Training Resources

Attending in-person puppy training classes is an excellent way to continue to reinforce the immersive program we started with your pup. These classes provide hands-on guidance from experienced trainers, socialization opportunities for puppies, and a supportive community of fellow dog owners. The structured environment of a class setting helps establish good habits early on, and the professional guidance ensures that new owners receive proper instruction and can address any specific concerns or challenges they may face. I recommend signing up for an introductory puppy class to begin when your puppy is between 8 and 10 weeks old.

When it comes to training your puppy, it's crucial to choose the right approach that promotes a healthy and loving bond. I strongly encourage you to seek out a dog trainer who practices positive reinforcement (R+) training methods rather than negative reinforcement (R-) or punishment based training styles. R+ focuses on rewarding desired behaviors with treats, praise, and play to motivate your puppy. This approach cultivates trust and connection between you and your dog. Goldendoodles are sensitive to discipline, so I do not recommend e-collar or negative reinforcement training especially for first time or inexperienced dog owners.
